My father-in-law is making good progress recovering from his open heart surgery. He was in CTICU for almost a week. The hospital asked my wife to top up the deposit as the cost has now escalated to $38,000!!!! The usual cost without complication or extended ICU stay is $26,000.
Luckily, he has insurance. Together with Medishield, he will need to come up with cash of about $7,000. It is still a lot to pay. My brother did not have pay any money as he is covered by group insurance.
We must keep healthy. Now, I am worried that my coronary arteries may be clogged as well. To check or not to check, that is the question!
