The Crystal Skull

I am half way through this novel. The story has a mix of history, myths and ancient legend. The blue crystal skull bring energy, special capabilities and death to the owner. There are supposed to be 13 crystal skulls and all will come together near the end of the world. I wonder if Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull has some of the storyline from this book.
