Downtown KL

It is an interesting mix and contrast of old and modern, cheap goods and expensive branded stuff, rundown and dodgy vs bright and classy. This is probably the third or fourth time I spent time in downtown KL in say 10 years. It bring the city boy out in me. It is nostalgic and bring back memories of growing up. Now Singapore is quite clean and sterile. We still get pockets of memories or rather micro pockets, more like little pimples. The circular building in Jalan Besar is gazetted today for conservation, the last surviving kampung in Lorong Buangkok...I have a hard time figuring out where are the other "pimples".

As I walked around the Jalan Bintang, progress! Plenty of contructions and upgrading in the works. The best part is there are old style traditional Chinese coffeeshop, roadside makeshift mamak teh tarik stalls and Malay hawker center. It is really really a good place to travel back in time.
