The monitor lizard that lives in the canal or Sungei Punggol was on the news last night. It was caught in the drains in SengKang. I have seen this monitor lizard for many years now. The first time I sight it was in the last surviving kampong (kampong Buangkok) in Singapore probably 5 years ago.
It is quite shy and can be seen in the river. The river is now convert into a reservoir. Maybe the food source has been reduced since there is no more tides to bring in fresh seafood. I kind of feel sad it is going to another home NParks deem suitable. Probably in the nature's reserve like Peirce reservoir. I will miss it when I ride my bicycle on the new Park Connector Network.
