The article in Sunday Times today has the story of foreign brides who do not look for romance or Mr. Right. They are looking for someone to lift them and their families out of proverty. They marry the men who can provide for them. Love is immaterial. The Sociologists in the University do extensive research into the foreigners marrying to Singapore men twice their age. Seems like the age old practice in Japan still exist today here. I wonder if local girls still do the same.
I know most girls would not admit it. They always tell me they marry for love. But when I insist how about truck drivers or garbage man, they will always says it is the difference in mindset. Julia Gillard, ex-PM of Australia male partner is a hair dresser.
