I enjoys reading Malcolm Gladwell's articles. The book What the Dog Saw is a collection of magazine articles he had published in New Yorker where he was a staff writer.
I read the article on Late Bloomers. Many of the writers who achieve fame for their works spent years and years on their craft. The example on the author of The Brief Encounters is he had a patron, his wife who is very patient and support him all the way. He went to Haiti out of the no rhyme or reason and his lawyer wife paid for the expense. When the Brief Encounters was published, it was highly acclaimed. The author spent 18 years writing this book. It is incredible support from an American woman. It is also incredible he manage to achieve fame.
I wonder how many failed after years and years of toiling on their writings. This thought shudders me.
