We have a new tuition teacher. The cost of this tuition is $680/month for 1.5 hours per week. The cost of tuition fees are enormous. No wonder all the school teachers are giving tuition to supplement their incomes. In fact I wonder if the school teachers are not teaching the students properly or withholding pertinent key information so that the tuition industry can thrive and they have plenty of opportunities to earn incomes outside their full time job.
This also means school has become so expensive. I wonder if we should do like the featured story in today's Sunday Times. The parents put their son and daughter out of regular school and home tutored them. Both scored full distinctions for their "O" level at the age of 13 or 14. A couple years ahead of regular students in Singapore. We are paying so much in tuition that I wonder what are the schools doing in terms of educating our future...
